The best place to shop for groceries is always up for debate, as everyone has their own preferences. Personally, out of convenience and price, Aldi and Sainsbury’s have been my go-to supermarkets for a long time.
While I can get the majority of my food shop from both these supermarkets, when it comes to one particular type of food group, I never find that the quality is quite there. The food item in question is fruit, but more specifically, grapes. As well as having great own-branded grocery items, Marks and Spencer has unbeatable quality when it comes to the fruit they stock.

Coming in at £1.89 for both red and white seedless grapes, aside from the freshness, the fruit seems to be quite small and lacks flavour at Aldi. While it is the cheapest supermarket to pick up grapes, for the quality, it’s not worth it.
Although they are one of the cheapest places to pick up a punnet of grapes, I always find that they are quick to turn mouldy in just a matter of days.
Sometimes I’ve found the grapes, and a few of the other fruits, at Aldi to be mouldy in the store. So many times I’ve picked up some fruit without inspecting it properly, only to come home and find most of the produce gone off.
When it comes to Sainsbury’s, while they do last for a reasonable amount of time, the grapes are relatively small, and both the red and white varieties lack flavour.
At Sainsbury’s, the regular seedless grapes retail for around £2 to £2.20. When they are on the Nectar card price of £1.60, I am more inclined to buy them. However, when they are around the £2 mark, I’d rather pick them up at M&S.

As soon as you step into M&S, you’re greeted with a stunning array of shelves stacked with fresh fruit.
The selection is also vast, with doughnut peaches, golden kiwis, blueberries, lychees, and more on offer. However, it’s the grapes that always make it in my basket every week, particularly the white ones.
I find the quality and taste of grapes at M&S are superior to all the other supermarkets, and they’re not much more expensive, all things considered.
At M&S, the grapes retail for £2.50 and for £2.65 if you’re after mixed seedless grapes. For this price you get big, juicy and flavourful grapes that have a satisfying crunch when you bite into them – a perfect snack in the hot weather.
While slightly more expensive than Aldi and Sainsbury’s, I never find myself wasting any of the grapes like I usually do.
