Iran launches new attacks in Middle East as sirens blast in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain | World | News

Iran has launched new missile attacks in the Middle East as efforts to secure peace in the region continue to falter.

Bahrain’s military confirmed the attack on X, saying in a statement: “The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force announces that Iran continues its systematic hostile approach through its sinful attacks that target civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

Meanwhile, the Saudi Civil Defence said early warning sirens sounded in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, “to warn of danger” amid possible Iranian attacks.

A statement from The General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defence said: “An alert has been issued by the National Platform for Early Warning in Emergency Situations in the city of Dammam to warn of a danger.”

This comes after the Jordan military confirmed on Wednesday that it had intercepted missiles and drones this week.

Six missiles launched from Iran were taken out after entering Jordanian airspace.

Four of the missiles were destroyed while two fell in remote locations, a source from the Jordanian military said.

Meanwhile, an Arkia flight from Tel Aviv to Eilat has to change its flight path as a result of the attacks earlier this week.

Tensions in the Middle East have been on a knife-edge since the US and Israel launched strikes in Tehran, Iran, in February, killing Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and multiple other senior figures.

Both sides are continuing to exchange hostilities despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed by the US and Iran in June to end the war.
