Israel horror as at least one killed in Kochav Ya’ir shooting as police swarm scene | World | News


One person has reportedly been killed and more injured after a shooting in central Israel on Sunday. Police say the suspected terror attack occurred at several locations across Kochav Yair, including a gas station.

The Israel Defence Forces, IDF, and police said both attackers were killed at the scene by security forces and the vehicle linked to the attack has been located. In a statement the IDF, said: “The soldiers, together with additional medical personnel, began extensive searches for additional terrorists and are providing medical treatment to the injured.”

At least six people are also believed to have been injured in the attack, in addition to the person killed. The victims are believed to have been injured at three locations in the area.

Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical and blood service, said it is treating a seriously wounded man in his 50s and a moderately injured man in his 30s.

A 31-year-old man was also injured near the entrance to Tzur Yitzhak, while two others were treated near Tzur Natan, including one who was unconscious.

The police are now collecting evidence.

In a statement on X Israel Police said: “Police forces located the vehicle linked to the attack and neutralized the suspected terrorist.

“According to medical personnel, four civilians were injured and evacuated for medical treatment: three in moderate condition and one in serious condition. Large police forces remain in the area and searches are ongoing.”

Kochav Yair is an affluent suburban town in the Central District of Israel, located in the southern Sharon region east of Kfar Sava.
