Kim Kardashian refuses Martin Brundle Monaco GP grid walk interview | F1 | Sport

Martin Brundle told a bodyguard: ‘Don’t push me, mate’ as he tried but failed to snag a quick interview with Kim Kardashian on his Monaco Grand Prix grid walk. The megastar was present on the grid for the first time since striking up a romance with Lewis Hamilton and was seen on Saturday watching on from the balcony above the Ferrari garage.

And on Sunday she had made her way down to the grid along with a swathe of other celebrities. But she had no time at all for Sky Sports pundit Brundle when, during his pre-race grid walk section, he approached her in the hope of grabbing a few words.

“Kim, Martin Brundle from Sky F1, how are you today?” he asked politely. Kardashian looked at him and returned a smile, but quickly turned away, uninterested in speaking. Brundle held out his microphone in the hope of getting a few words from her, but to no avail.

Kardashian then leaned in to one of her bodyguards who whispered something into her ear. As that happened, off camera, Brundle told one of the other security personnel surrounding Kim and her sister Khloe: “No, you don’t need to push me mate.” Brundle then tried one more time to get a word or two out of the sisters, but had no such luck.

It was an extremely busy grid walk, as is always the case in Monaco. It is a particularly tight space at the best of times on the narrow start-finish straight, while the glamour of this event always attracts a swathe of celebrities and it was no different this year.

It looked for a moment as though Brundle was going to be rejected on his very first encounted of the grid walk, as he came across and approached Cynthia Erivo. The Wicked star was posing for photos in front of Max Verstappen‘s Red Bull car when Brundle struck up a conversation, initially sparking a standoffish response as Erivo told him she was not doing interviews.

Her stance softened, though, as she did answer a couple of questions about being in Monaco and enjoying the event. Before Brundle could probe any further, he was waved away by a Red Bull phorographer who said the Sky crew was getting in the way of his shot.

Brundle did fail, though, to get anywhere near Premier League footballer Morgan Gibbs-White. He walked straight past Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones to try to get to the Nottingham Forest star, who was also in front of Verstappen’s car at the time. But he did not manage to get close enough for a conversation with Gibbs-White, who was in Monaco after missing out on Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.

Instead, Brundle found solace in the form of a conversation with the Crown Prince of Bahrain. Mumtalakat, the Bahraini sovereign wealth fund, partially owns the McLaren F1 team and this is a milestone weekend for the outfit which is celebrating 1,000 starts in Formula 1.
