LEGO builds 22 brick F1 cars for British GP drivers’ parade | F1 | Sport

LEGO is bringing back its iconic Drivers’ Parade for a second edition at this weekend’s British Grand Prix. Their first effort was an enormous success as fans loved seeing the 11 life-size Formula 1 cars made from thousands of LEGO bricks raced around the circuit by drivers who had a lot of fun while doing so.

On that occasion, team-mates had to share a car with one of them driving and the other in a passenger seat behind them. And, naturally, things got competitive as drivers battled each other on track, leading to several of the cars, which took months to put together, picking up damage.

But fans loved it so much that LEGO have brought it back for this weekend’s action at Silverstone. And all 22 drivers will have the chance to get behind the wheel this time as 22 minicars have been built for each of them to drive. Each car is made of around 28,000 bricks, is fully driveable and can reach a top speed of 25mph.

“We always listen to our fans, and it was clear from the 2025 Miami Grand Prix Drivers’ Parade that both fans and drivers wanted more,” said LEGO chief marketing officer Julia Goldin. “We’re back with a 2.0 version in a brand-new format, bringing even more fun and excitement to the parade.”

Even though these minicars are smaller than the life-sized builds created for the Miami parade last year, at huge amount of work has still gone into their creation. They were assembled at LEGO’s factory in Kladno, Czechia, and took a team of 20 designers, engineers and builders around 6,400 hours to put together.

On last year’s evidence, there is every chance that much of their hard work may be destroyed in just a few minutes, assuming drivers will get just as competitive as they were last year when given the chance to drive the LEGO cars. But that will be a small price to pay for the amount of entertainment the stunt will give to hundreds of thousands of fans at Silverstone and beyond.

Formula 1’s chief commercial officer Emily Prazer said: “Last year, the F1 LEGO Drivers’ Parade in Miami with the LEGO big build cars was one of the most memorable and talked-about moments of the season, capturing the imagination of fans around the world and showing a different side of the sport.

“This year, we’re building on that moment to create an incredible spectacle for fans attending the British Grand Prix and those watching globally. There is something truly special about bringing together the worlds of Formula 1 and LEGO play, combining innovation, creativity, and entertainment in a way that can inspire and excite fans of all ages.”
