Two people have been killed and two severely injured after a car crashed into a crowd in Germany, according to local reports. The incident took place in central Leipzig, eastern Germany, where the vehicle ploughed into pedestrians.
Leipzig police confirmed there were injuries from a driving car but could not give release details. A driver has been detained, Saxony Police said, after local media reported a damaged Volkswagen SUV with a person on top of the vehicle was seen speeding through a pedestrian zone. The incident took place on Grimmaische Street, a major shopping street that connects several landmarks with Leipzig’s market square.
