Liverpool star Rio Ngumoha ‘strikes transfer agreement with Bayern’ | Football | Sport

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Liverpool are expected to bring in several top players, though there remains a possibility that more big names could head for the exit door at Merseyside. The Athletic claim that Ngumoha’s long-term future at Anfield may be in question, with Bayern Munich keen on luring the Liverpool starlet away from the club.

Sky Sports Germany claim that Bayern had reached a complete agreement with Ngumoha’s camp last month, having been beaten to Anthony Gordon by Barcelona.

However, any deal to sign Ngumoha collapsed on Thursday. Vincent Kompany had approved the signing after personal talks with the 17-year-old.

Despite any agreement on the player’s side, Bayern would still have to pay a fee that Liverpool deem fair in order to prise the England youth international away. There has not yet been contact between the two clubs, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool insist that Ngumoha is not for sale and they plan to strengthen in attack, rather than let one of their most promising talents leave.

Ngumoha signed his first professional contract in September, which runs until June 2028, and the winger is seen as someone who could play a big role in Liverpool’s future.

The belief that the Reds have in him was evident when they did not recruit a replacement for Luis Diaz, who made the same transfer a year ago.

Ngumoha made 29 appearances in all competitions in what proved to be a breakthrough year and is currently training with the England team for the World Cup, though he will not be part of their squad for the tournament.

Liverpool are trying to bring in an attacker for the opposite flank, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande considered heir top target.
