With the FIFA World Cup 2026 getting under way on 11 June, there is just one question on everybody’s mind – which nation will be crowned Champions of the World? – and the so-called ‘Living Nostradamus’ believes he has the answer.

Brazilian mystic Athos Salomé, 39, has been branded the ‘Modern Day Living Nostradamus’, and among his arsenal of supposedly accurate forecasts are major global events, including the catastrophic Covid-19 pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine, and the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

The self-proclaimed soothsayer has cultivated something of an unusual cult following when it comes to international sports predictions. While no conventional pundit, he claims to have foreseen the precise outcome of the 2024 Euro Cup, as well as accurately predicting that Argentina and France would contest the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Now, Athos has exclusively revealed to The Daily Star his picks for the 2026 World Cup – and some of the mystic’s favoured contenders are nothing short of surprising.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada, with 48 nations battling it out for the coveted trophy, reports the Daily Star.

The ‘fiery’ winner prediction

The parapsychologist claims his ‘intuition’ is picking up ‘visions dominated by an unusually vivid and intense sensory palette’. While the psychic hasn’t explicitly named a champion as yet, he has a firm inclination towards one direction, as he reveals: “There is red. A great deal of red or orange.

“I see heavy, deep, dominant colours. Colours of fire. It is an energy of heat, friction and intense force.

“The national sides that survive this tournament will be those wrapped in the colours of flame.”

Athos’ hint appears particularly telling when considered alongside the current favourites to claim the 2026 trophy.

Which nations will be the leading contenders?

The Brazilian clairvoyant has identified seven nations as his principal contenders: Spain, Portugal, Morocco, England, France, Netherlands, and Argentina.

The Spanish outfit are runaway favourites for the 2026 World Cup, with statistics placing the reigning European Champions at a 17% likelihood of securing the crown. According to Athos, “La Roja (The Red) are the literal embodiment” of his premonition.

Regarding Portugal, the psychic suggests the squad is “armed with an elite generation of young talent alongside seasoned veterans”. As for his blazing forecast? The nation does sport “a primary kit dominated by deep, crimson red”.

An unexpected contender on the psychic’s roster is Morocco, as he explains: “Morocco have been named as one of the main emerging forces and a potential ‘dark horse’ of the tournament.

“Their kit features bright red and strong green in their identity and primary kit.”

So, what forecasts does the ‘Living Nostradamus’ have regarding England’s prospects at the World Cup?

“England boasts a highly competitive squad looking to break a decades-long drought. They are historically tied to iconic red away kits during defining moments.”

Describing France as a “strong title contender” renowned for their “raw physical power and unparalleled squad depth”, the psychic has stood behind his ‘fiery’ assertions, pointing out that the “red accents on France’s traditional kit” will bring “maximum friction to the pitch”.

The psychic says: “The major bookmakers and mathematical models point directly to Spain as the team to beat, followed closely by an exceptionally deep French side and an England squad reaching its peak.”

Turning his attention to the Netherlands, he shares: “Labelled as the ‘Giant Killer’ due to their extremely solid defensive line. Whilst wearing the classic orange, they carry the energy of the ‘strong colours of the flame'”.

On the subject of reigning champions Argentina, the psychic says: “The reigning World Cup holders; they are defined by remarkable psychological resilience.

“They exhibit pure heat and intensity in terms of team spirit, even though they lack red in their traditional look.”
