Manchester United are currently in the midst of a busy summer. The Red Devils transformed their fortunes around midway through the previous campaign, and, under the tutelage of Michael Carrick, qualified for the Champions League.

It was a remarkable turnaround for the three-time European champions, who will return to Europe’s most prestigious competition for the first time since 2003. United’s owners have been busy in the market, including a creative deal that saw youngster Tyler Fredricson move to Lausanne-Sport – a Swiss side who are also owned by INEOS.

One rumour that has somewhat come out of the blue involves Brentford striker Igor Thiago. The marksman enjoyed a stunning 2025/26 campaign, netting 26 goals across 41 outings in all competitions and was rewarded with a bumper new contract by the west London outfit. However, that hasn’t stopped some of the league’s biggest names from sniffing around him, with reports that United’s transfer chiefs have made contact regarding the 25-year-old. Any potential move is still in the earliest of stages, but he could be seen as a replacement for Joshua Zirkzee, should the Dutchman move on.

It’s been a summer filled with big exits at Newcastle and there could still be more to come. United are said to be looking at potential fullback options, with Lewis Hall a player on their radar. The left-back was a surprise exclusion from Thomas Tuchel’s England side, and United are reportedly looking to capitalise on the uncertainty at St. James’ Park. It’s claimed the bigwigs at Old Trafford view him as a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw and could spring a move before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Just imagine if Rodri leaving Manchester City opens the door for United to sign Aurelien Tchouameni. It’s looking that might be the case as the Spanish side continue their pursuit of the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner. It was reported earlier in the window that Tchouameni was a player of interest, but links went quiet as United started to look elsewhere. But Rodri’s arrival in the Spanish capital could throw the cat among the pigeons and open the door for the Frenchman to move to the red side of Manchester.
