Man Utd get Myles Lewis-Skelly transfer boost as £36m star ‘agrees’ move | Football | Sport

Manchester United have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly. Michael Carrick and INEOS are ramping up their transfer business after already bringing in midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, in addition to goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

United were initially linked with Lewis-Skelly last year when he discovered himself slipping down the left-back hierarchy at Arsenal. Both Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie were receiving greater game time.

The issue was swiftly resolved when Mikel Arteta shifted the 19-year-old into midfield, where he excelled. However, Newcastle‘s Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly due to undergo a Gunners medical on Monday, according to The Times.

Should the Brazilian put pen to paper, he would represent yet another established name Lewis-Skelly must battle for a starting berth. Not to mention, his reported £80m price tag will take a considerable toll on the budget.

Any fee Arsenal recoup from offloading Lewis-Skelly would be pure profit when factoring in Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, meaning if United table the right bid, it could prove impossible to resist.

The Independent claim that United are currently assessing whether the Gunners are willing to do business over Lewis-Skelly, with their interest remaining firmly intact.

£36m star ‘agrees’ to move

On the departures front, reports emerging from Italy indicate that Joshua Zirkzee has agreed to join Juventus on loan with no obligation to buy. The Dutch striker appears to have no place in Carrick’s first-team thinking.

United acquired Zirkzee for £36m in 2024, making him the first signing under INEOS ownership. He previously plied his trade in Italy with Bologna.

It is understood that Zirkzee has proved a challenging player to move on and, having failed to make his mark at United, is considerably more likely to depart on loan, either with or without a purchase option. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zirkzee has reached an agreement with Juventus and has already ‘said yes’ to the Italian club.

However, the transfer hinges on the Turin giants’ ability to move on striker Jonathan David.
