Man Utd ‘hold talks’ over Summerville as transfer target identified | Football | Sport

Manchester United are continuing to be linked with a move for West Ham ace Crysencio Summerville as the Red Devils press on with bolstering their midfield options. United look set for a hectic summer transfer window and are on the brink of adding fresh reinforcements to their ranks.

United have struck a £50million agreement to bring Andrey Santos in from Chelsea, who is tipped to become the first new signing at the club since Michael Carrick was confirmed as permanent manager.

Atalanta star Ederson is also widely anticipated to make the switch to United, with a deal already in place to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford for £35million, with a further £3.8million available in add-ons.

Now it appears United are casting their net wider to strengthen their attacking options too, with Summerville remaining firmly on their radar.

According to Sky Sports, United have pinpointed Summerville as their primary target to bolster their forward line and have already entered into preliminary talks with the Hammers regarding a potential transfer for the Netherlands international.

Summerville’s future at the London Stadium has been surrounded in uncertainty ever since West Ham were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

The winger is currently enjoying his summer break after representing the Netherlands at the World Cup, where they were knocked out by Morocco in the round-of-32 stage.

United have had their eye on Summerville for some time, with speculation now suggesting Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have entered the running for the 24-year-old.

Reports indicate that United could intensify their pursuit of Summerville once they have wrapped up the signings of Santos and Ederson.

It has been claimed that United would look to finance the deal using funds raised from the sale of Marcus Rashford, while separate reports indicate West Ham could hold out for approximately £50million for Summerville this summer.

The Hammers have already overseen one high-profile departure this summer in the aftermath of their relegation to the Championship, with Mateus Fernandes completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal thought to be worth in the region of £85million.
