Man Utd launch new 2026/27 home kit as first match in new strip confirmed | Football | Sport
Manchester United have unveiled their new home kit for the 2026/27 season – and will pull it on for the very first time when they take on Nottingham Forest this weekend. The public caught their first glimpse of the new strip on Wednesday at Old Trafford, when a giant poster appeared on the exterior of the stadium overlooking the forecourt. It has since been officially launched, going on sale at Fanatics 9am this morning.
Drawing inspiration from the Red Devils’ strips of the 1970s, the kit features Adidas’ iconic three stripes running along the sleeves. The Adidas strip will be donned when United return to the Champions League next season, with the agreement with the sportswear giant reverting to its standard terms, following a £10million deduction for non-Champions League seasons that was written into the contract.
The new kit will make its first official appearance on Saturday, when United Women wear it against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their final WSL match of the campaign.
Michael Carrick’s side will then give it its Old Trafford bow on Sunday, as Brazilian star Casemiro wears it in the final home fixture of his United career. The first team will then pull it on once more on the final day of the season at Brighton.
In doing so, United will be breaking with tradition, as – for the first time – they will debut the following season’s shirt before the current campaign has even concluded.
Unveiling new kits at the final home fixture of the season has become a growing trend among top clubs, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea having done so for a number of years – yet this will mark the first occasion that United follow their lead.
The Man United 2026/27 Home Kit is on sale now at Fanatics. Fans can choose from ‘replica’ or ‘authentic’ versions, each of which are also on sale at Kitbag, Sports Direct and the official Man United Store, with prices from £85 for adult shirts and £55 for kids.
Man United fans took to social media following the launch to share their first impressions of the new home kit. Writing on X, one said: “Beautiful. Champions league batch will look wonderful on it.”
Another said: “Clean kit. Manchester United always hits different in red.”
Not everyone is sold, as this commenter said: “Took the designer at Adidas about 10 minutes to come up with this eh?”
Nevertheless, another Reds fan said: “I like this. Looks clean and slick.”
