Man Utd ‘make contact’ over £80m transfer as Harry Maguire set for new role | Football | Sport

Manchester United look set to splash £80million if they are to win the race for their next transfer target. The Red Devils are pressing ahead with plans already in motion to bolster their squad under Michael Carrick this summer. A deal to bring in Atalanta midfielder Ederson has reportedly been struck, with United anticipated to make a further addition in the centre of the pitch.

Casemiro’s exit has left a considerable void in midfield, with Carrick eager to address their shortcomings ahead of the club’s return to Champions League football next season. A second new face at Old Trafford is currently being pursued, while Harry Maguire’s latest career move has also been confirmed.

Here’s a round-up of the latest developments surrounding the Premier League heavyweights…

United ‘make contact’ with next transfer

Manchester United could build on their £38.8million agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson with the addition of West Ham playmaker Mateus Fernandes.

ESPN have suggested that United have already approached the relegated club regarding a potential deal.

West Ham could be forced into a string of player sales with relegation forecast to set the club back £100m.

According to The Times, they have slapped an £80m valuation on Fernandes. Arsenal have also been linked with a swoop for the Portugal international, who caught the eye during his debut campaign at the London Stadium.

Missing out on the England squad for the upcoming World Cup won’t dampen Harry Maguire’s summer plans too much.

The former England internationals will be situated in a studio overlooking Times Square in New York for 40 episodes.

Maguire was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, marking the second successive international tournament he has failed to feature in, having been ruled out of Euro 2024 through injury.
