Manchester United transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni has reportedly been involved in a training ground bust-up with Real Madrid team-mate Ernesto Valverde. Tchouameni was previously linked with a switch to United before he chose to put pen to paper at Real in 2022.

Heading into this summer, United‘s interest remains, and the Reds are understood to regard him as one of nine midfield targets currently under consideration. While United weigh up their options in the transfer market, reports emerging from Spain have alleged that Tchouameni and Valverde came to blows during a training ground incident.

This week, attention has been drawn to Tchouameni’s French compatriot Kylian Mbappe allegedly clashing with a Real Madrid coach. As the unrest continues to simmer, a separate incident involving Tchouameni has now come to light.

Spanish outlet Marca has alleged that Ernesto Valverde and Tchouameni were involved in a physical altercation during a heated training session. It claims the pair shoved one another on the pitch before continuing their dispute in the dressing room.

The incident was reportedly sparked by a foul during training, which caused both players to square up in a fiery confrontation. The duo are said to have argued in front of astonished teammates.

With Real eliminated from the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, and on the verge of being beaten in the La Liga title race, tensions in the Spanish capital are running extremely high.

Carreras, who departed United in 2024, responded this week to claims he was slapped by Antonio Rudiger during a training session. He did go on to maintain that the drama was resolved, with other reports suggesting Rudiger offered an apology.

Mbappe has also been at the centre of controversy, having reportedly lost his temper at one of Real Madrid’s coaching staff members. The World Cup winner was subsequently photographed on a luxury yacht with his girlfriend during the week in the build-up to Real Madrid’s El Clásico encounter with Barcelona.

These episodes highlight the high-pressure, tense atmosphere currently engulfing the club. Amidst the turmoil, Tchouameni has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford.

With United seeking to recruit a successor for the departing Casemiro, the former Monaco midfielder could yet make the move to Old Trafford. United are also believed to be prepared to offload Manuel Ugarte as they attempt to generate funds.

While Kobbie Mainoo has put pen to paper on a new contract at the club, as many as three midfielders have been tipped to join this summer. Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace and Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali are three others who are highly regarded.

United secured their spot in next season’s Champions League by defeating Liverpool 3-2 at Old Trafford. One further win for Michael Carrick‘s team will also ensure the club clinches third place in the Premier League.
