Martin Lewis says NatWest, Halifax and Lloyds customers can get £600 from Santander switch | Personal Finance | Finance

Customers at banks including NatWest, Halifax, Lloyds and RBS can get a £600 handout now with a Santander switch, says Martin Lewis.

The founder tweeted about a very tempting new deal from the Spanish banking giant which will give customers £600 in total for making the jump from another high street bank. Martin Lewis said the new bank switch deal comes with “serious perks.”

He tweeted: “Santander’s launched a new bank switch deal, with some serious perks … free £175 plus 7 percent savings plus one percent cashback on bills plus cheap spending abroad plus possible two percent cashback on all spending.”

Switching to Santander will give customers an instant £175 up front, and from there, Santander customers will have access to Santander Edge accounts.

It costs £3 a month but offers £10 a month cashback on regular bills and another £10 a month cashback on food and travel spending.

Edge accounts also come with a very attractive 7 percent savings rate linked to it, which will provide about £270 interest per year when maxed out with £4,000 in.

Finally, you get cheap spending overseas – there’s no foreign exchange fee on spending abroad, similar to a Chase card, and you can also link an Edge credit card for another 2 percent cashback.

Taken together, all the cash incentives equal £600 a year.
