Matt Damon flabbergast Tom Holland has never seen one of the greatest films ever | Films | Entertainment

Tomorrow marks the cinematic release of Sir Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster, The Odyssey. The all-star cast has been travelling the world promoting the long-awaited movie, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus and Tom Holland as his son, Telemachus.

During press, it came up that the Spider-Man star hasn’t seen one of the greatest films ever made and Damon just couldn’t handle it. Upon hearing which film in question, he replied to Holland, “Are you f***ing kidding me?”

According to Complex, the Spider-Man star confessed, “I don’t know why I’ve never seen it. I know that I would love it, but it’s just never been a movie I’ve put on.”

Damon replied, “I’m so jealous you get to see that for the first time. I wonder if it’ll feel as groundbreaking to you as so much has been subsequently based on it.” So just which all-time great film has Holland not seen?

It turns out the film in question Holland is yet to watch is 1999’s The Matrix. The incredibly influential sci-fi action film stars Keanu Reeves as a computer hacker called Neo, who discovers that our world is a simulation and the real world is a dystopian future controlled by powerful AI known as the machines. Philosophically fascinating, The Matrix has been read as both an analogy of Christianity and Marxism. It’s currently streaming on HBO Max.
