M&S wide-leg jeans are so ‘flattering and comfortable’

Jeans don’t have to automatically be uncomfortable – there are some clever ways to get that timeless denim look without feeling so constricted. Now, M&S has a pair of elasticated waist jeans that shoppers have described as ‘flattering and comfortable’.

The M&S Denim Elasticated Waist Wide Leg Trousers cost £35, and come in medium indigo and black. Customers say the trousers fit true to size, and there are plenty of options to choose from: including extra short, short/petite, regular and long lengths for the inside length, and sizes 6 through to 24 (although not all options are currently available).

These are described as ‘soft denim trousers’ with a flattering wide leg silhouette, and an elasticated high waist that offers ‘comfortable all-day wear’. They have a pull-on design – making getting dressed a breeze – and are made of a cotton, polyester and elastane mix, to ensure extra stretch and comfort.

The trousers are easy to care for, too. M&S advises washing them at 40°C and ironed at a medium temperature – it’s not recommended to bleach, tumble dry or dry clean them.

For a similarly comfortable alternative, Next has these Blue Denim Drawstring Wide Leg Trousers for £26.99. There are two other colours to choose from (indigo and light blue), with a wide leg silhouette and a drawstring waist.

Otherwise, Hush has the Rina Supersoft Barrel Leg Jeans for £87, which tap into the current trend for loose fitting, barrel leg styles. They’re made from a soft denim twill fabric, and come with an elasticated drawstring waist.

The M&S Denim Elasticated Waist Wide Leg Trousers have earned an average 4.6 star-rating from over 1,000 reviews. One five-star review reads: “Very pleased with these jeans. I sized down and short length at 5’5″. Wash well and minimal iron. I’d wear them all the time. Flattering and comfortable.”

Another shopper said as part of a longer review: “I think these are a must-have for this season. Lovely wide leg is bang on trend. The fabric is floaty but not too thin and with their elasticated waistband they are as comfy as a lounge pant!”

While a third chimed in: “Beautifully soft jersey fabric which looks like denim. Great choice of leg lengths. Washes well and no fading. Keep their shape after wearing more than once.”

However, some shoppers did dock a star, like one customer who wrote: “I like these as they are easy to wear. Pull on. I’m just not sure about the material.” Another said: “Very comfortable trousers which look good. Kept the navy ones, but returned the black as they looked washed out.”
