Nationwide announces £100 payment to millions – how and when to get it | Personal Finance | Finance
Nationwide has announced an initiative that could lead to people receiving a free £100 payment. If you are eligible for the payment, you could receive the cash as early as June 10.
The Nationwide Fairer Share payment 2026 is running for the fourth year in a row, and more than four million customers will receive it. As of March 31st of this year, if you are a member of Nationwide with a qualifying current account, plus either qualifying savings or a qualifying mortgage, you are eligible for the £100 payout.
So long as your account was open on March 31, 2026, which is not held with Clydesdale or a Virgin Money current account, you will qualify.
If you had at least £100 in total in one or more personal savings accounts or cash ISAs with Nationwide at the end of any day in March 2026, this means you will have had qualifying savings.
For a qualifying mortgage, you must have owed at least £100 on your Nationwide residential mortgage by the end of March also.
However, there may still be some hope for Virgin Money customers. If you’ve become a member of Nationwide as a result of the transfer, you may be eligible for a Fairer Share payment in 2027. By next year, this will include qualifying Virgin Money accounts.
Nationwide said: “We would like to make the payment every year, but this will depend on our financial performance.
“The amount we pay and what makes you eligible may change in the future, but you can see how it works on our terms and conditions page.”
Those who are eligible will receive their £100 payment between 10 and 30 June 2026. The money will only pay the money into an open Nationwide current account.
