Nationwide Building Society customers may want to keep a close eye on their bank accounts over the coming days. The savings provider has spoken out to set out some key dates for members to bear in mind.

Millions of Nationwide members will be pocketing an £100 payment as part of the Fairer Share payment very soon. Nationwide announced in May that there would be a fourth edition of the bonus payment, for the fourth year in a row.

This bonus scheme is where the mutual shares out its profits among loyal customers. More than four million people are set to receive the £100 into their account this year.

To qualify, you need to have a current account as well as either a mortgage or a savings account with the provider, and you need to have had certain account activity in recent months. Nationwide has been contacting those who are eligible to let them know the £100 payment will be heading their way.

No message received

However, one customer reached out to Nationwide as they had not heard anything about their case. Writing on social media, they asked: “How will someone know if they will receive the £100 Fairer Share please?

“I was hoping to receive one this year but I haven’t received any notification.” Nationwide responded to explain that it has been contacting “all eligible members” from May 21.

They also provided some guidance about how the person how check for themself they qualify. Nationwide said: “If you would like to check your eligibility, you can: use the chat service in the Nationwide banking app or internet bank.”

The eligibility checker simply involves selecting an answer from a series of multiple choice questions. Once you have answered all the questions, it will tell you if you qualify or not, given the responses you have selected.

Key dates to note

However, the customer said they had tried checking their eligibility but this had not settled the issue. They explained: “I did that and I was told by the bot that I was eligible but sadly not received anything since.”

Responding to this, Nationwide said: “We will send the payment of £100 to all eligible members between 10 June 2026 and 30 June 2026. We will pay the money into your Nationwide current account.”
