Earlier this month, Amazon MGM Studios announced they are finally auditioning for the next James Bond. In the meantime, the next official 007 franchise reboot has launched today as 007 First Light. The first new Bond video game in years reimagines Ian Fleming’s spy as a 26-year-old earning his Double-O.
Irish Young Dexter star Patrick Gibson stars as Bond in the present-day set adventure, which is being hailed as a masterpiece that makes you feel like you’re in a Bond movie. Check out highlights of the glowing reviews below that added to the game’s 87 Metacritic score.

It likely won’t be as influential as GoldenEye 007, and it can’t recapture my childhood memories of snipers-only duels on Nightfire’s Ravine map, but it has a deep understanding of what makes James Bond so magnetic. The car chases and extravagant villain lairs are essential, but the keystone is the globe-trotting covert ops.

While the immersiveness of the campaign occasionally lags, this stylish origin story still feels like a triumphant return for the most iconic secret agent.
