Premier League Darts halted as furious Gerwyn Price demands fan is kicked out | Other | Sport

Gerwyn Price brought Thursday night’s Premier League darts offering to a halt, with the Welshman ordering security to eject a member of the crowd. Price was taking on Stephen Bunting during a crucial match in the final round of regular season action when their contest was disrupted by a crowd member.

The incident occurred in the fourth leg of the match, just after Bunting had thrown his first dart of the visit into the treble 20 bed. But as he was winding up to follow it with another maximum, the Bullet’s rhythm was disrupted by a so-called fan inside the Sheffield arena.

By this point, Price had already got involved himself, with the two darts players, alongside the referee, attempting to identify who the unruly supporters were. When they were eventually unmasked, Price was seen gesticulating towards security to throw them out, with the Welshman getting his wish moments later.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the commentator said: “I think Stephen was disturbed by something there. And now Gerwyn Price is giving some of the crowd it.”

Wayne Mardle chimed in with: “I think maybe they’re informing security that a certain person should be ejected. Gezzy go down there pal [and sort it out]. Go on! That’s it you. It’s a shame when people think they can pay good money and ruin everybody else’s evening.”

The fan causing the problem was shown the way out of the venue, and Bunting followed up the treble 20 he’d hit before the commotion started with another maximum, before finishing his visit with an impressive 140. It set him on the path to glory, as despite losing at the time it all kicked off, Bunting battled back to secure a gutsy 6-3 victory.

The Liverpudlian had beaten Jonny Clayton before despatching fellow Welshman Price in the semi-final. Bunting couldn’t have afforded a defeat, given his slim hopes of qualifying for next week’s finals rested on him winning the night.

However, as far as Price is concerned, his spot in the play-offs was confirmed well in advance following a strong 2026 campaign so far. Interestingly enough, darts isn’t the only sport Price will be playing next week, with the 2021 world champion set to compete at the UK Open Pool Championship.
