We’ve all come across skincare products whose claims to transform skin are underwhelming and met with much scepticism. With this in mind, tracking down a product that truly delivers can prove challenging, particularly for more mature shoppers.
But there’s one beauty purchase that has generated a lot of buzz online for its genuinely noticeable results – but don’t let its name put you off.
The Salmon DNA Water Oil from celebrity-loved beauty brand Rodial has received widespread praise from shoppers ranging from their 30s to their 50s.
Crafted with salmon DNA at the heart of its formula, this ingredient may sound pretty peculiar. However, in recent months yet has emerged as an increasingly popular trend in skincare, owing to its capacity to support skin regeneration, reinforce the barrier and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The water-oil hybrid harnesses active ingredients to help stimulate collagen and enhance firmness and elasticity. Meanwhile, the oil works to seal in hydration and guard against moisture loss.
What’s more, according to the experts, it genuinely delivers. Clinical studies on key ingredients recorded up to a 98% reduction in wrinkle depth and a 95% increase in collagen production after eight weeks of testing with 20 volunteers.
That said, it is undeniably a luxury purchase; an 18ml bottle is priced at £90, while a 30ml bottle will set shoppers back £150. As a long-standing admirer of Rodial, I’ve found its products tend to warrant the cost — though I am yet to try this particular formula myself, reports the Mirror.
Nevertheless, beauty enthusiasts on a tighter budget may wish to explore other options. Amazon is currently stocking Medicube’s Salmon DNA PDRN Collagen Capsule Cream, which one shopper described as ‘magical’, priced at £19.45 down from £22.63.

For a vegan-friendly alternative, INNISFREE incorporates green tea into its Retinol PDRN Firming Serum (£31, Look Fantastic). Perfectly suited to sensitive or blemish-prone skin, the serum absorbs swiftly to deliver a noticeably firmer complexion.
Although it’s clear that Rodial’s Salmon DNA Water Oil has left beauty fans seriously impressed. With a range of glowing reviews, one shopper, who stated their age as between 45 and 55, declared: “I absolutely love it. After just a few days, people are asking if I have had something done (rude!). Don’t want to be without it again. Also, my skin can be sensitive. No irritation/getting used to it at all.”
Someone else added: “The combination of active ingredients in this product has already made a noticeable difference to my skin. My main concerns are hydration, fine lines, and elasticity, and this formula addresses them beautifully.
“It sinks into the skin effortlessly, leaving my complexion refreshed and glowing. I’ve seen visible improvements after just a few days of use. I absolutely love it.”
Admittedly, £90 for a beauty product does not come cheap – which is it’s main drawback. Yet one devoted fan of the Salmon DNA Water Oil insisted it was worth every penny: “Wow! People have commented on how amazing my skin looks. It’s easy to use. Expensive, but well worth it.”
While another remarked: “Lovely on the skin. Skin feels plump and soft after use. Will continue to buy.”
