Tottenham suffered a 3-0 defeat in a crucial Premier League showdown against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and here are our Spurs player ratings. Before kick-off, an estimated 10,000 Tottenham supporters took to High Road to greet the team coach, creating a raucous atmosphere. However, despite a promising start, the players failed to match that level of enthusiasm.

The ball struck the woodwork early in the game when Forest striker Igor Jesus inadvertently directed a header from a long Kevin Danso throw against his own crossbar. Nevertheless, the Brazilian found the back of the net at the opposite end against the run of play late in the first half, connecting with a Morgan Gibbs-White corner.

There was still time for Mathys Tel to have a shot deflected onto the crossbar by Matz Sels and Cristian Romero to be knocked over as he attempted to head in the rebound. The referee and VAR decided it was not a foul, leading to the officials being jeered off at half-time.

Tottenham began to show signs of nerves in the second half and inevitably conceded around the 60-minute mark when Callum Hudson-Odoi easily reached the byline and pulled it back for the unmarked Gibbs-White to drive past Vicario.

It became 3-0 when a deep cross from Neco Williams found the run of Taiwo Awoniyi to beat Danso and nudge the ball into the net, leaving under-fire boss Igor Tudor facing increased pressure.

Here are our Tottenham player ratings…

Battling through discomfort ahead of his impending hernia operation. He tipped over Jesus’ arching attempt but couldn’t reach the Brazilian’s header from the subsequent corner. Made a good save from Williams after half-time but appeared as though he could have done better with Gibbs-White’s shot on the hour mark. Couldn’t do much about the third goal. 5

Excellent early header to thwart Igor Jesus right behind him in the Spurs six-yard box, but aside from a few threatening long throws, he didn’t contribute much more to the match. Was outpaced by Awoniyi for Forest’s third. 4

Seemed to have been fouled right at the conclusion of the first half in the Forest box but no penalty awarded. Attempted to instigate action and looked perpetually frustrated with his teammates. 6

Operated at left-back and didn’t seem quite in sync with the pace of the game in the first half and was substituted at half-time. Also collided with the advertising board after one sprint into the Forest box. 5

Delivered some decent crosses into the box but appears to have lost Jesus for the Forest goal before half-time. 5

Began the match on the right wing but shifted to right-back for the second half. Was nowhere near Hudson-Odoi for Forest’s second goal. Provided very little quality from the right. 4

Delivered a superb 12th-minute crossfield pass to release Tel for an opportunity and another to Solanke following the interval. Took a hefty blow from a 50-50 challenge in the opening period but eventually shook it off. Among Spurs’ stronger performers once more. 6

Executed some quality passes in both halves and saw a deflected strike drift narrowly wide. Attempted to inject momentum into Spurs but the two youthful midfielders at the heart of the pitch were engaged in an uphill struggle. 6

Watched a deflected attempt bounce wide after beating his marker and had a strike tipped onto the crossbar by Selz before half-time. Departed with an injury with 25 minutes remaining. 6

Apart from a late flurry of attempts, the England striker contributed precious little up front but also received minimal service. 4

Directed a header across the face of goal 14 minutes in from a Tel corner. Failed to make much additional impact on proceedings. 4

Entered for the second period but it’s challenging to determine whether he actually did, aside from a decent low delivery that Bergvall slid wide on 74 minutes. 3

Also introduced after the interval. Sliced wide on the slide from Udogie’s low delivery into the area. Energy but limited quality. 5

Would have been frustrated to have been omitted from the starting XI but provided little when he eventually appeared. 4

Contributed nothing to proceedings. 4

Replaced Gray in the closing minutes. N/A
