A Republican candidate in the US has refused to admit how many people he has killed in a disturbing interview, despite having boasted about being responsible for dozens of deaths on more than one occasion.
Both MAGA candidates for the US state of Colorado seem to enjoy flirting with controversy. The frontrunner in Colorado’s GOP primary for governor Victor Marx claims he was forced by his stepfather to kill someone when he was only seven-years-old.
The establishment hope in the race for Colorado governor, Republican State Senator Barbara Kirkmeyer is polling in second place behind Marx. In third comes State Representative Scott Bottoms, who claims the Democrats are running a paedophile ring in Washington DC. The race to Colorado governor was recently described as a “dumpster fire” by a columnist for the Denver Post.
But, despite another candidate running unverified conspiracy theories as truth, Marx still manages to be the candidate with the most out-there claims – he’s leading the polls.
In an interview that has been called both a ‘train wreck’ and a “masterclass in confronting a candidate with [their own] series of lies”, Marx sat down with local news anchor Kyle Clark for a lengthy interview over the weekend about his past.
Clark tried to take Marx to task over a number of his past claims, such as having killed a man as a child to performing actual exorcisms, to having called in an airstrike on ISIS as a civilian.
“Your claim that your abusive stepfather forced you to kill a man when you were seven years old — is that the only person you’ve ever killed?” Clark asked Marx during the interview.
Marx, 60 – who is understood to be no relation to German philosopher Karl Marx – fell silent for more than 10 seconds. He then can be seen taking a deep breath inward, and looked up, as if searching his memory.
“Well, I would say, as a—as a child, yes. Without question,” he finally replied.
“But I’ve been in other situations where, you know, possibly people or persons died as a result of me defending myself in other countries. I—there’s no count on that,” Marx added, before trailing off with an addition that hardly matters: “There’s no photos…”
Clark then asked: “Do you think that you’ve killed people as an adult?” Marx replied: “Does it matter?” Clark responded: “Yeah, I’d say so. Killing somebody’s a pretty weighty thing.”

Marx attempted to dodge the question, diluting the severity of his supposed actions with:“If someone’s trying to kill you, or you’re in combat…” but Clark ducked in with: “It’s still a weighty thing to take somebody else’s life. I mean, it could be self-defence, it can be justified, but it’s still weighty. So I’m just asking you — how many people have you killed?”
“Well, if I did, I wouldn’t be telling a reporter sitting here in my training centre,” Marx replied, visibly smirking.
He did not except Clark to be so quick on his feet, because the smirk faded as Clark fired back without missing a beat: “How about voters?”
He then pressed Marx again, adding: “Would you tell voters?”
Marx replied: “There’s no need. I don’t think that’s important. It’s actually kind of — it’s an odd question to me.”
The journalist said: “You actually talk about the idea of killing people with some frequency and why it’s a necessary thing to do — killing people. You said on NRA TV in 2017, ‘Now a lot of them just got to be killed. I’ve had them shoot at me and I had to shoot back. There’s a time and place to eliminate the enemy, and you have to.’ You said on Jeff Lerner’s podcast in 2025, ‘Some people have to get killed, some people have to die.’ But it’s an odd question to ask you how many people you’ve killed?”

Marx replied with a simple: “Yes.”
So Clark pivoted. “You claim that you once called in a US military airstrike that killed 70 ISIS fighters. I didn’t realise that civilians could essentially facilitate military airstrikes. Could you walk me through how that works?”
The reply was, again, simple. “No,” Marx replied.
Marx runs a nonprofit Christian ministry called All Things Possible, which claims to engage in dangerous work overseas. As per their website, the ministry says it helps “hunting predators as well as rescuing, restoring and empowering women and children who have been held captive by traffickers and other abusers.”
In Marx’s disaster interview, Clark noted that Marx’s campaign website previously claimed that his nonprofit had rescued more than 45,000 women and children, which was later removed.
“How many women and children have you rescued?” Clark asked.
“I would say it’s more than one,” Marx replied, adding “…and less than a bunch.”
Marx layer posted on Facebook that he welcomed Clark’s “hard” questions. He also said it was a “great” interview and that he thinks he “crushed it.”
