Trump’s bizarre admission after deleting ‘unhinged’ picture portraying himself as Jesus | World | News

Donald Trump has deleted a picture portaying himself as Jesus Christ following a furious backlash – including among his own supporters. Earlier on Truth Social, the US President posted an AI-generated image of himself healing someone in a hospital bed while figures around him appeared to look up to him.

In the background was a large American flag, iconic US landmarks, eagles in flight, aircraft in the sky and glowing angelic figures. The image, which was originally shared by Trump supporter Nick Adams in February, drew widespread criticism. Some branded it “unhinged”, with one user writing: “The whole world has gone absolutely crazy.” The post also sparked outrage among Trump’s own MAGA base. Former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, wrote on X: “It’s more than blasphemy, it’s anti-Christ spirit.” Addressing the backlash on Monday afternoon, Trump insisted he was intended to be depicted as a doctor “to do with the Red Cross.”

Speaking to reporters before an event at the Oval office, the US president said: “I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor. It has to do with the Red Cross.

“A Red Cross worker is there which we support […] It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better and I do make people better.”

Conservative commentator, Isobel Brown, called the post “disgusting and unacceptable” and has since said the deletion of the “Jesus meme” was the “right call”.

Megan Basham also added: “Glad to see the president has deleted the offensive post. Would be helpful if the administration addressed it.”

Writing on Truth Social, Trump described the Pope as “weak on crime, and terrible for foreign policy”.

He also criticised the Pope’s alleged stance on migration, the war in Iran and the 2020 Covid pandemic, claiming priests were being arrested for holding church services.
