Urgent recall for over 736,000 bread rolls due to glass contamination | World | News
A huge number of over 736,000 bread rolls have been recalled due to a major safety risk as they may contain glass.
Pillsbury bread rolls have been recalled by General Mills in the US due to the risk.
The recall, initiated in June, has impacted over 736,000 items.
A notice issued by the US Food and Drug Administration notes that two Pillsbury products have been affected by the recall.
These are the Hard Roll Dough and Kaiser Roll Dough.
Over 3,000 cases of the 180-count Hard Roll Dough were impacted, with 1,260 cases of the 144-count Kaiser Roll Dough affected.
The notice shared by the FDA said the recall was initiated due to “potential foreign material (glass).”
Further details weren’t immediately available.
The rolls impacted were shipped to suppliers across several states including Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.
General Mills owns brands including Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Cheerios, Lucky Charms and Nature Valley.
A spokesperson said to The Independent: “Food safety is our top priority at General Mills. Out of an abundance of caution, in mid-June, we issued a voluntary recall of two frozen dough products baked onsite and sold exclusively at Walmart in-store bakeries in the United States.
“This voluntary recall is limited in scope, highly contained and all potential impacted product has been removed.”
