Uri Geller’s Harry Kane intervention ahead of Ghana match | Weird | News

Harry Kane has become the focus of an extraordinary off-field battle ahead of England’s clash with Ghana after a self-styled witch doctor claimed he was attempting to disrupt the striker’s performance.

The bizarre row escalated when TV psychic Uri Geller vowed to step in and protect the England captain from any alleged spiritual interference.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a Ghanaian spiritualist known for making similar claims before major football matches, said he was working to halt Kane’s goalscoring form before the meeting between the two nations.

Speaking about his intentions, Bonsam said: “I am working on Harry Kane.

“I am not wishing him serious injury. It will be just enough to stop him against my country. I will do my work so that it can help Ghana.”

His comments quickly prompted a response from Geller, who insisted he could neutralise any attempt to influence the Bayern Munich forward.

How does Uri Geller plan to help Harry Kane?

Geller said he would use what he described as his own spiritual powers to prevent any negative energy reaching the England star, reports Goal!.

The illusionist and self-proclaimed psychic said he had experience dealing with witch doctors during previous visits to South Africa and was confident he could counter Bonsam’s efforts.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Geller said: “I will cancel it; I can do that.

“Before the match, I will send vibrations. I will activate all my powers, all my energy, all my know-how to stop his negative vibrations from hitting Harry Kane.”

According to Geller, his plan involves focusing his energy on photographs of both Kane and the Ghanaian spiritualist before kick-off.

Why did Uri Geller mention Albert Einstein?

Explaining the theory behind his approach, Geller pointed to Albert Einstein’s famous equation.

He said: “Albert Einstein came up with a fantastic scientific equation; he wrote E = MC².

“Einstein proved that everything in the universe is made from energy. Energy cannot be stopped, energy vibrates, and we are all energy beings.”

Geller said he intended to print photographs of Kane and Bonsam, placing an “X” over the image of the spiritualist in an attempt to block any alleged influence.

How is Harry Kane performing at the World Cup?

The unusual exchange comes as England look to continue their strong start to the tournament.

Kane heads into the Ghana match in impressive form after scoring twice in England’s opening 4-2 victory over Croatia.

The striker’s brace took him to 10 World Cup goals, drawing level with Gary Lineker‘s long-standing England record.

Victory over Ghana would move England closer to qualification for the knockout stages, while Kane has the chance to move clear of Lineker and become his country’s outright leading scorer in World Cup history.

Whether Geller’s promised intervention has any impact remains to be seen, but the England captain is unlikely to be short of support as he looks to add to his tally.
