Victoria Beckham underwent a remarkable transformation at Wednesday’s World Cup match between England and Argentina.
Beckham, 52, was spotted cheering and beaming during the FIFA World Cup semi-final as England netted a goal against Argentina. Anthony Gordon scored for the Three Lions as the match approached the end of its first hour.
Beckham is well known for her composed, understated demeanour in the stands at football matches. She has previously faced criticism online for appearing too indifferent, making it all the more striking when she was seen leaping for joy alongside husband David at Wednesday’s fixture.
Victoria’s jubilant reaction came after David was spotted wiping away tears during the national anthem before kick-off.
“Victoria Beckham finally cares about football,” wrote one user on X, attaching a photo of Beckham jumping up and embracing her son, Romeo, following Gordon’s goal.
“GORDON, YOU’VE DONE MIRACLES ON ME. VICTORIA BECKHAM EVEN SMILED,” quipped another poster after witnessing the Beckham family erupt with smiles and laughter as their home nation scored.
Another football fan on X wrote, “David Beckham’s reaction after the goal,” attaching three crying emojis and a photo of the Beckhams raising their fists and letting out jubilant cheers.
One sceptical social media user questioned the sincerity of Beckham’s reactions, posting, “bahahahaaa Victoria now celebrates like never before, and she’s very aware of the camera.
“Victoria Beckham saw the memes and decided to celebrate this one,” added another.

Beckham had previously drawn criticism from social media users for appearing to lack enthusiasm at football matches. After an Instagram post took aim at Victoria, David stepped into the comment section to clarify that she was simply less outwardly expressive.
“She was celebrating inside, I promise. Her reactions were slightly slower than mine,” he commented in response to the dig at his wife.
Despite David’s defence, social media users continued to target Victoria following England’s goal against Argentina.

“Victoria Beckham doesn’t give a s— about football but is forced to pretend. This s— is funny,” quipped one user in reply to a photograph of the high-profile couple cheering, alluding to widespread suspicions that the Beckham matriarch was feigning her excitement after Gordon’s goal.
“Never seen Victoria Beckham this hyped in my life. Even Posh Spice is losing it for this one,” shared one football viewer, nodding to the excitement surrounding England’s opening goal in the match.
Argentina ultimately claimed victory, progressing to the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win over England.
