The allegation has circulated among some figures on the American right, amplified by Tucker Carlson during an interview with Russian president Vladimir Putin. But Zelensky laughed it off when Loomer raised it, replying: “Of course not.”
Loomer, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, travelled to Ukraine this week after admitting she had been misled by Russian propaganda.
“I’ve come to realise that I was bamboozled by Russian propaganda and I came to believe a lot of untrue things about Ukraine,” she said during the interview at Kyiv’s Mariinsky Palace. “I used to think that this was a country full of Nazis.”
Zelensky, who is Jewish, rejected those claims, saying: “We are not Nazis.”
The influencer previously criticised Ukraine and wrote articles for Russia Today, but said seeing the damage caused by Russian missile and drone strikes had changed her perspective.
During the interview, Loomer also referred to US broadcaster Tucker Carlson, who interviewed Vladimir Putin in Moscow last year. She joked that she calls him “Tucker Qatarlson”, prompting laughter from Zelensky.
The Ukrainian leader also reflected on his relationship with President Trump, saying: “I think now our relationship is better and really good.”
He said their meeting at the Vatican last year marked a turning point after their widely publicised Oval Office clash, during which Vice President JD Vance criticised him.
Asked why continued US support for Ukraine mattered, Zelensky warned that failing to stop Russia could allow Vladimir Putin to rebuild the Soviet sphere of influence and strengthen ties with China.
“It will be dangerous for you,” he said.
Zelensky also said he would be willing to sign a future peace agreement with Russia in the Oval Office or even at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, adding: “It does matter when, not where.”
