Djokovic is far from his best here but like all true champions do, he’s ground out this first set with an 8-6 tiebreak win in 63 minutes.

Fair play to Safiullin, who hasn’t come out here just to make up the numbers. He’s playing aggressive tennis when he gets the chance and produced one of the defensive shots of the tournament to save Djokovic’s first set point.

The crowd were fully in support of Djokovic at the start of this tie but there are an increasing amount of “come on Roman”s now being shouted. He’s winning himself some fans with this performance.
