Woman humiliated after horror realisation about neighbours

A woman has been left red-faced after realising her neighbours might be able to hear her bedroom activities through the wall.

The woman confessed she may “need to wear a paper bag over my head” after having the epiphany.

She told fellow Mumsnet users her terraced home is old and while it’s usually quiet, she can occasionally hear children playing through the wall.

However, she was horrified when she realised this might mean the people next door might be able to hear what she and her husband get up to when they get a quiet night alone.

She confessed: “My husband and I have a pretty decent sex life, and I’m not going to lie and say that when we are at home alone I don’t hold back. I mean, I start off thinking, ‘I hope the neighbours don’t hear us,’ but when the going gets good I have issues not vocalising it.

“Our bedrooms don’t back onto each other which was a deliberate choice. Do I owe them a bottle of wine, and need to wear a paper bag over my head when I go outside?”

Responding to her predicament, one person commented: “I live in a terraced and yes I can hear my neighbours both sides and one down (but they are wildly loud and vile) have sex. I don’t mind hearing beds knocking on walls, I do mind hearing people scream.”

Another neighbour who has experienced similar situations chimed in: “We used to hear our neighbours. They made some very unusual sounds. Once woke me up in the night!”

Meanwhile, another person chimed in: “I used to hear the neighbours in my old house every now and then but their bedroom was right next to ours… can’t say it bothered me but then again it was in the middle of the night.”

In an attempt to reassure the Mumsnet user, one individual shared: “I’ve never heard my neighbours. I’ve lived in terraced houses for all of my 39 years.”

“Never heard my neighbours having sex, but the bedrooms aren’t adjacent,” another added.
