Sir David Beckham caused quite the stir among football fans during Scotland’s World Cup defeat to Brazil last night. The camera panned to the Manchester United legend enjoying a large glass of red wine in the stands at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

He watched on as Scotland were well beaten by Carlo Ancelotti’s side, with their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the tournament now hanging in the balance. Vinicius Jr. scored a brace against the Scots, while Man United forward Matheus Cunha added a third in the second half.

However, it was the sheers size of Bekham’s glass of wine that had fans talking on social media while the game played out. The England icon looked as dapper as ever as he sipped from the giant glass.

One fan wrote on social media: “David Beckham with a fishbowl of red wine.” While another said:”Did everyone see David Beckham take the biggest swig of red wine from the biggest glass ever?”

One fan said: “David Beckham has the biggest wine glass I’ve ever seen!”

Temperatures in Miami were well above 30C and one fan could not believe Beckham’s choice of drink. They said: “Red wine a mad choice in that humidity from David Beckham.”

Scotland got off to the worst possible start after an early error from Scott McKenna gifted Brazil the lead against the five-time world champions, and Aston Villa star John McGinn now accepts his side need a miracle to reach the knockouts.

“It’s the way I feel now,” he said post-match. “It’s not the way you want to go out either. We’ll probably hurt tonight, hurt tomorrow and then just keep our fingers crossed.

“If we go into the last 32, if we get a miracle, we’ll need to be better, we know that. If you don’t take care of the ball in the big moments and you make mistakes, you get punished – that’s club or international football.

“Brazil punished us tonight. I don’t think overall they opened us up too many times, it was sort of self-inflicted mistakes and I think the scoreline was a fair one.

“It leaves us in the worst possible position from this morning. We gave ourselves a good platform to go and qualify and tonight we’ve made that very difficult. There’s no hiding from that.

“We need a lot to go our way, we will hope, but what we do need to be if we manage to get through is be a lot better.”
