Granada in Spain has been rocked by an earthquake as locals panic over tremors that “felt like an explosion”. The earthquake occurred 3.73 miles (6km) South of Granada at 3.46pm local time (2.46pm BST).

The Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the earthquake measured a magnitude of 3.7. The earthquake had its epicentre in the town of Ogíjares, at a depth of 6 kilometres, although the National Geographic Institute initially located the epicentre in La Malahá at a depth of 10 kilometres. An aftershock was felt in Armilla, with a magnitude of 1.7 and a depth of 6 kilometers.
