Jadon Sancho has been taking aim at Manchester United fans after helping Aston Villa secure their place in the Europa League final. Unai Emery’s side demolished Nottingham Forest 4-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate to book their spot in the final of Europe’s second-tier competition later this month. Having fallen behind 1-0 from the first leg, Villa stormed back to overturn the deficit and reach their first European final in 44 years.
Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Buendia scored either side of half-time to put the Villans ahead in the tie, before a late John McGinn brace sealed the victory. Post-match footage captured Villa’s players celebrating in the dressing room, with Sancho very much part of the jubilant scenes. The former Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea winger channelled his elation by throwing shade on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Sancho, 26, first reposted TNT Sports’ update highlighting that he has now reached a European final in each of his last three seasons.
The England international reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund in 2024, the Conference League final with Chelsea in 2025, and now the Europa League final with Villa in 2026.
One user seized on this to take a swipe at Sancho, posting alongside a GIF of a man scrutinising a small piece of paper: “Let’s have a quick look at @Sanchooo10 input in getting to those finals.”
Sancho was quick to spot the jibe and fired back: “Yeah make sure you have a good look! [laughing face emoji].”
He then shared a photograph of the Villa players together, celebrating in the home dressing room, with the caption: “Istanbul! @AVFCOfficial.”
He also reposted a tweet from Villa announcing the club’s passage to Istanbul for the final, before responding to a fan who appeared to spring to the forward’s defence.
“Dudes forget what he did to Nuno Mendes in that semi-final. Whole Champions League run, honestly. Dreamland,” another user wrote.

Sancho spotted that a fan was standing up for him and simply responded with a shrugging emoji followed by an exclamation mark.
While words of encouragement, such as those above, came flooding in, a number of negative remarks directed at Sancho also surfaced.
After one fan wrote: “Made a European final playing absolutely no part (he come on for four minutes tonight) and he’s suddenly acting as if he’s Mbappe [laughing face emoji]. Shows his weak and poor mentality, m***,” Sancho responded with: “Have a goodnight bro! [praying emoji, salute emoji].”
Continuing his swipes at supporters, Sancho couldn’t resist one final exchange past midnight on Friday morning.
After an account named ‘Christiano’ wrote: “Few dribbles against PSG and stat-padding against factory workers last year. Peaked at 21. Nothing footballer who couldn’t cut it at Manchester United after all the drama. Client,” Sancho fired back in characteristic fashion: “Just wondering is your name actually Christiano? [laughing face emoji].”
When another supporter pointed out that the ‘real Cristiano doesn’t have a h in it’, Sancho replied: “I thought so [person facepalming emoji and laughing face emoji].”
Rounding off a memorable night’s work on social media, Sancho signed off with a separate post: “All jokes aside Love n Hate today is for @AVFCOfficial goodnight Villans! [round purple circle emoji]. See you in Istanbul!”
Villa are due to face Freiburg in the Europa League final at Besiktas’ Tupras Stadium on Wednesday, May 20.
